PhotoJ - HDR Photography
1. I will have to shoot at least 3 pictures with different f-stops or shutter speed so that I have at least 3 different pictures (from dark to bright).
2. I need a camera, a tripod and a HDR blending software.
3. It is a specific style of photo with an unusually high dynamic range that couldn't otherwise be achieved in a single photograph.
4. A HDR shows a range from the darkest dark and lightest bright, which you can't see on a single photograph so a HDR can show everything from some mind-blowing surreal work to stunningly accurate reproduction of what you see.

PhotoJ - Volkwagen Commercial
1st time watching
In the video you can see a man who is driving really fast and who is nervous. Also you can see a bride getting ready to get married. The man is running late I guess and even has to stop at so many things. Everyone is watching their clocks. When the man is finally arriving at the church it gets revealed that it was not his wedding he's driving to and I assume from his and the bride's face that he was going to crash the wedding.
2nd time watching
Who Mathew, Mary
What Mathew is driving, Mary is getting ready for her wedding
Where on a road, in a church
When Saturday, May 16th
Why Mathew wants to go to the wedding
How he's driving with a car
3rd time watching
Scene 1: A guy is driving in a grey car on a road in fields. The weather is not good and it's rainy and cloudy. He also seems nervous because he's sweating.
Scene 2: A woman's bridesmaids helping her get into her wedding dress and she looks happy. It happens in a room.
Scene 3: The man is driving through and alley of trees. It is still rainy.
Scene 4: There is an older man sitting on a chair looking at the bride. She is looking out of the window and there is a short picture of the man in the car driving by a closed yard.
Scene 5: The man in the car is looking on his watch.
Scene 6: The older man is looking on his watch still sitting in the same room.
Scene 7: The man is still driving on the country road and now passing a RV. You can quickly see a picture of the older man holding hands with the bride.
Scene 8: The bridesmaids are still fixing the bride and the older man is looking around.
Scene 9: The man in the car is now driving over a bridge and on a road with green fields around it. It is still rainy and cloudy but you can see that the sky is clearing up a little bit.
Scene 10: The bride is looking out of the window.
Scene 11: The car came to a city now and has to stop when a train passes. It isn't rainy or cloudy anymore. The guy in the car is looking around and screaming in the car still nervous and sweaty.
Scene 12: Another man is closing the door to the room where the bride was in.
Scene 13: The car is arriving at a church. It is sunny and nice outside.
Scene 14: The guy who was driving is running into the church now where you can see the bride with another man and a pastor. The bride looked to the man who was driving and then her future husband looked to that man to but the man who was driving just looked at the bride.
Scene 15: You can see the car standing in front of the church.

2. I actually have never heard about iMovie because I never had a Mac computer.
3. How to make a movie/trailer with that program.
4. I am concerned that I don't find an event or something cool to shoot those pictures.
5. I don't think I will do it early enough because I am usually a person who waits for the last moment.
6. I think I want to do an event like a wedding or maybe a day in the life of my dog or something like that.

2. Like I already said I have never heard of iMovie before.
3. I learned new how to create a project, import a video, adding clips, adding media and clip adjustments.
4. I am also concerned that I don't have enough time on the day of the finals to finish up everything and that the computer doesn't work.
5. I am confident that my pictures are good enough but I probably won't have the pictures early.
6. I would like to do a big event or a day in a life of someone or to capture a process for example cooking a meal or getting ready for prom or something like that.

2.) Tell me one thing that you already knew about iMovie that the website explained
3.) Tell me one thing that you learned new today that you didn’t know before.
4.) What are you concerned about with this final project?
5.) What are you confident you can complete early and have ready to use?
6.) If I asked you today, what do you think you will do for your video?

PhotoJ - Student of the Month Story
Two weeks ago,
the freshmen Kaitlyn Manire got named as "Student of the Month" for
Bowie High School, Austin, TX. She always works hard and tries to achieve the
best she can. As reward she got nominated as the youngest "Student of
the Month" in Bowies history.
After the rest of
the school had around two weeks to vote for their nominees, on April 3, it was
clear that Kaitlyn Manire is the next “Student of the Month” of Bowie
High.
Kaitlyn herself feels really honored that she got nominated
by her class mates and teachers because “that makes me feel special” she said.
Talking about school unfortunately she is transferring into
Regents next year but when we asked her why she got into it she said “I am
really good at Math and Science”.
She put a lot of effort and work into her academics to get
to this point. “Working hard and always trying to achieve my goals” she said
how she thinks she got nominated for “Student of the Month”.
“I obtain charisma, loyalty, kindness and I am fairly smart”,
she says about herself and why she thinks she is qualified for “Student of the
Month“
Also her teacher are really pleased by Kaitlyn’s work and
effort she puts into school. “She is one of my best students and I am not
surprised at all that she got nominated as Student of the Month”, Biology
teacher Jessica Davis says about Kaitlyn.
About her future Kaitlyn is not sure what she wants to be or
where she wants to go to college but she is definitely continuing to work as
hard as she can.

4 major characteristics of paper are paper thickness and opacity, color brilliance, paper finish & paper handling.
ISO Brightness: It's the European standard that quantifies the brightness of paper as it would be perceived in an environment that is illuminated with a mixture of cool-white fluorescence and some unfiltered daylight. The ISO will always be a little brighter than the TAPPI for the same paper.
TAPPI Brightness: It's the North American standard that quantifies the brightness of paper as it would be perceived in an environment that is illuminated with a mixture of cool-white fluorescence and some filtered daylight. The ultra-violet light component of TAPPI brightness is the lowest of any standard.

PhotoJ - Portfolio Analysis
1.
a. Name of photographer - Daryl Peveto
b. General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.) - sports/action, trip to Peru/Mexico, old people in sports
c. List three problems that the judges noted with the portfolio - "good commercial photos for medical companies"; "the captions are killing me […] I don't need that many words"; they didn't really talk about the problems, they just skipped the pictures they didn't like
d. List two things the judges like - "nicely lite"; "nice balance of color"
e. What is your overall impression of the photographer? What did you like or not like? I actually really liked the pictures because they were different in my opinion. I think the photographer really experimented with the angles where he shot from and I really liked that.
2.
a. Name of photographer - Nick Adam
b. General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.) - people, sports
c. List three problems that the judges noted with the portfolio - "out of focus" ; "too tight, cut out his head to much" ; "if you have to read the caption of a picture to figure out what's going on, this is not working"
d. List two things the judges like - "it takes a strong person to take that picture and a even stronger person to pose for a picture like that, credit all around" ; "framed"
e. What is your overall impression of the photographer? What did you like or not like? I liked it but I would say for only one story, the pictures were just too different.
3.
a. Name of photographer - Melissa Golden b. General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.) - people
c. List three problems that the judges noted with the portfolio - "the most important part is out of focus"; "way too much going on"; "more than you want to know"
d. List two things the judges like - "very nice portrait […] you got everything you need to know in this picute"; "that's nice"
e. What is your overall impression of the photographer? What did you like or not like? I didn't really like the pictures, because they were kind of boring just like the judges said. They weren't anything special.
4. Winner - Dustin Snipes
a. What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it? composition, angles the pictures were taken of, the moments
b. What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses? I agree with all the strengths the judges already mentioned I also like the way he cut most of his pictures and framed those "moments". I think that photographer has a great eye for great pictures and I don't really see any weaknesses with his pictures.
5. Contest Recap
a. Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner - They looked through the portfolios of the ones they liked again but in a general view of the stories and put out the ones who had one or more pictures in them the judges didn't like.
6.
a. The judges didn't like the picture in Part 2: No Pro / No college, because it just has too much going on and you don't really know what to focus on and I totally agree with that.
b. The judges really like the picture with the girl and the goose in Part 5: Best Student Image, but I can't understand why because I think the composition is not really good and I think it was cut too much and that it would look way better if you would see more from the girl and the goose.

I really like these two websites because their designs are both clean and the focus is on the pictures. The first one has more option to choose the style etc. but personally I prefer a white, basic, clean website just like the second link is offering you.

PhotoJ - Architecture Preview 2
Details - because it is a picture of a small part of the house. A water fountain is definitely a detail, especially when it is such a special one. |
Light - because the sunlight is clearly shining trough the colored windows. It is also reflected by the stone/wall. |
Patterns - because this room looks like a nautilus shell too. Not only the ground, but also the seats and the walls. |
Angles & Shapes - because you can see a lot of different shapes from the outside and inside. You can see that everything in the house is without harsh edges. |
Surroundings - because the whole house is shown, even with its garden. |
